CAMERON RICHTER

"The Artist"

Cameron Robert Paul Richter was born April 16th 1996 in Ajax, Ontario. In grade three my family and I moved to Verona just north of Kingston. Growing up I always had an interest in making videos and directing them. I grew up making small movies with Star Wars action figures and that's when I realized that I enjoy being behind a camera. I attend Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School. When I'm not doing things in Com-Tech or SHSM I'm playing lacrosse. 

My favourite Com-Tech subject is video recording and editing because I enjoy being creative and making my own things. Joining SHSM was a big and a good decision for me because it is going to help me get my dream job of being a sports camera operator. I plan on returning for a 5th year of high school to complete more courses to get my Red Seal Diploma. After I finish my years of high school I want to attend Durham College and study Broadcasting in Contemporary Media.

SHSM

Fall Prevention

In the Fall of 2013 the students of SHSM and other Co-op Placements gathered in the auto shop of Holy Cross to learn the importance of Fall Prevention. Fall Prevention is one of the most important things in the work place. Its also a great thing to have on your resume.

This was one of the requirements to graduate with the SHSM Red Seal Diploma. Not only is it helping you to graduate its also teaching you lessons. Its fun and interesting. 

National Film Board
Field Trip to Montreal

During the winter of 2013 The SHSM students took a trip to Montreal to visit Concordia University and a tour of The National Film Board of Canada. During the Concordia tour we saw all types of classes and the Dorm rooms. On the NFB tour we got to see different types of animation and even got to make a stop motion video.

My favourite part of the trip was getting to make the stop motion video. Considering I enjoy making funny videos. I look forward to more trips with SHSM.

Safety Courses

The different types of Safety Courses we learn are First Aid , CPR , Fall Prevention and WHIMIS. These all play a crucial part in life and in SHSM. These things we learn can help us get a better job.

 First Aid and CPR taught us how to tend to people who are in need. Fall Prevention teaches us safe ways to us ladders and other high equipment. WHIMIS teaches us more saftey and Appropriate Behaviour in the work place.

Grade 9 Video "Scariest"

In this assignment we were in groups of three and we were to take the videos of the brand new grade 9's that we had recently interviewed and create something to show to the younger kids at the feeder schools. In my group we had Myself on video camera and editing , Virginia See on music and Brooke Fischer as our group leader. We had the topic of The Scariest Thing as A grade nine.

The importance of this video to show the feeder schools is very high. This video will show them why they should come to Holy Cross. Attracting new students is key.

"Girls Field Hockey"

In this assignment we were given a list of individual assignments we could do. The list varied from Jesus Christ Superstar to Football. I chose to do Girls Varsity Field Hockey.

We had to take pictures of the Sport/Activity that we chose. We also had to make a highlights video. Then they were used on the school website and for coaches.

"Lords Of Crusader Town"

In this project we were told to make a Dialogue or Music Video. My group which consisted of Myself, Jordan Allen and Ryan McKenna chose to combined the two options. Which started out as a "Mockumentary" to make fun of the Lords of Dogtown movie turned into something else.

We wanted to capture a lot of fun fast passed shots so we used a GoPro camera. We wrote a biography of the characters we were playing. I enjoy making comedic videos that arent really serious.

Architectural Photography

In this assignment we took a field trip to down town Toronto for Architectural Photography. The class was given a list of shots to take that varied from New v.s Old to Religious. The night time photography was the best out of them all.

I chose this photograph as my best of the trip. The reason I chose this photo as my best is I felt I captured all of Toronto in the picture. From the busy streets ,buildings ,lights ,parking lots and Mostly the CN Tower.

In this assignment we had to take and edit a head shot of a fellow student in the class. The props we had to use were the part of Communications we enjoyed most. The program that we used was Adobe Photoshop.

The person that I chose to Photograph is Jordan Allen. Jordan and I share the same interests so it was easy to photograph him. We both enjoy filming videos and editing them. Comedy is for sure a huge factor in eavh of our lives and we love to make people laugh.

"The Beast Within"

In my composite digital art photo I chose to do an image of a lion with half  of Jeremy Pendergast’s (The Jesus Character) face. The lion represents the beast within all of us waiting to come out and shine. We are all created with the lion inside of us we just need to discover it.

In the photo the lion is ready for battle. The Jeremy lion hybrid is in space because we were all created in Heaven by God.  The reason I

chose to do this image was because I feel that we all have the

heart of a beast inside of us. We need to discover what in life

brings that beast out and when we do we are unstoppable.

In conclusion, in the creation of a superstar, we need to find out what beast is inside of us and what we need to do to bring it out. In order to do this you need to communicate with God and also be true with yourself. So whether it be a lion, a snake or even a dove find out what beast hides with in you and embrace it.  

HCTV Intro

"HCTV Introduction"

In this project we were asked to use the program Motion to create an introduction for HCTV. HCTV or Holy Cross Television is the production crew that is run by students attending Holy Cross. These students are either taking a Communications Technology Course or are in SHSM. 

In this introduction I tried to capture the attention of the viewer with the fireworks at the beginning. The smoke is the aftermath of the fireworks. Then the HCTV logo fades in to finish off the video.

In this project we were asked to create a personal logo using one of our initials. The program we used was Adobe Illustrator. My design was a little simpler then other peoples designs but sweet and simple is always good.

The project was also a good way for us the students to get an idea of ways to get our name out into the communications field. Also its a way for us to create a logo to go with the type of communications we would like to go into. My field would be Camera Work and Editing.
